‘EX VOTO : a group show organised by @the_mary_leyline_pilgrimage (Sarah Hartnett & Lucy Stein) opening on April 1 2023 at PRIMEYARC run by @orig_proj in Great Yarmouth featuring contributions by artists, academics, mystics, wandering womyn and practitioners we’ve worked with and dreamt with during the journey along the Mary leyline. An Ex-voto is traditionally a votive offering to a saint or divinity given in fulfilment of a vow, or in gratitude and devotion. We wish to think of these offerings as not just 'things' or 'tools' for healing and expressions of human dominance over the inanimate world, but rather a type of media: two-way signals communicating between the animate and the inanimate. Ex-votos have been called too ugly for the art historian, too magical for the historian and too commonplace for the archaeologist. 

Through deep conversation, making, trauma work, re-enactment and the inner journey activated by psychoanalytic theory, together we hope to bring the fertile and ineffable to light’
